Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 3

Season 3 of Buffy packs quite a punch with some great stories and the introduction of integral characters as well as the departures of 2 cast members.  The 22 episodes of the season are far more emotionally charged than the previous two seasons with character arcs that develop relationships, heartbreak, and betrayal.  The introduction of Faith is a huge moment in the series that allows a juxtaposition to the Buffy character.  The introduction of Wesley is integral in this season to give Buffy a means to step away from the watchers council and branch out on her own as well as the creation of a new ally for Angel as he departs from Sunnydale for L.A. and his own series at the end of this season.  Also leaving is Cordelia who also joins Angel in L.A. for the first season of Angel.  The Villain in season 3, the mayor, is by far the best that the series has ever had to offer as he is both funny and menacing.  The season finale is very grand in scope and pays off with a showdown between Buffy and Faith as well as the final battle between the Buffy gang and the Mayor as he achieves his ascension.  A great season that is full of emotion, awesome action sequences, and great character development.  Sit back and enjoy this rare treat.  The best of the seven seasons of Buffy by far.
